Harlow: St Mary Magdalene

CHURCH ROAD Harlow Harlow
01279 412675

St Mary Magdalene is the old village church for Potter Street, which was the settlement along the London Road before its incorporation into Harlow New Town after World War 2. We like to think we still keep the warmth (good heaters!) and friendliness of a typical village church, even into the 21st century when Harlow is a town of well over 80,000 people.

We are an Anglican church in "the Catholic Tradition"  - our Sunday  worship is formal, with robed servers and incense. But we are also increasingly committed to the life of the wider Christian community, both in Potter Street (where we meet regularly with our neighbours from the Baptist Church); in Harlow (through our Deanery and the group Heart 4 Harlow, which represents many different Christian traditions in the town), and our  valued  place in the Diocese of Chelmsford.

Please contact Fr James (the vicar) to talk about baptisms or weddings, or if you would like to organise a funeral service in our church. But best of all , come and join us on a Sunday morning at 11am. Our mass lasts a little over an hour: we have a friendly and informal Sunday School for our younger worshippers, and it will be a great pleasure to share what we can of God's love and goodness with you.

(note- in mid 2020 we are affected by Coronavirus-related restrictions but still offering Holy Communion on Sundays at 11am and Thursdays at 10am. Please contact Fr James for more details)
